Licenses cost between $4.45 and $8.45; the process places the dog’s name on a police database.

Drawing on a special fund from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Marbury Group purchased time on local radio and television stations for public service advertising. Some of these messages aired on television during the Super Bowl pre-game coverage.

Athletes from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers participated in the campaign. The Allegheny County Treasurer also lent support to the effort.
